And some tips to help along the way!
We talk to many couples who are still unsure of not only what they are wanting to spend on their florals for their big day, but also how much floral items typically cost.
The general rule of thumb is to budget around 10% of your overall wedding investment to flowers, but keep in mind this is a general rule and should be adjusted based off of the overall look you were going for. You can certainly budget less if you were only looking to have personal flowers, but if you were looking for a floral heavy garden feel to the space you may need to budget closer to 15%.
Other considerations you will want to consider for your floral budget are things like bridal party size and guest list size. More often then not these are the two areas that tend to dictate how much you will end up spending to get the look you were going for. If you have a large bridal party and large guest list, things do tend to add up quickly!
We understand that there are limits, but keep in mind that things may need to adjust in order to fit your ideal budget. Stay open to alternative options that would help keep you more within your ideal budget while still maintaining the look you were hoping to achieve. It may be loose greenery instead of garland, or adding in some DIY or non floral options. Be open and honest with your vendor, and they will be happy to make suggestions!
Maybe you really want that lush over-the-top look, but your budget simply won’t allow for that throughout your event. My favorite bit of advice to give to couples is if you are looking for areas to splurge, do it in areas that are going to be heavily photographed. Something like an altar or sweetheart table that will be a large focal point. As much as we love and enjoy the day of, these photographs are what you are going to look at for the rest of your life. Investing in lush elements for those areas will help capture that overall feel you were going for your big day!
We've run some scenarios for you to look at what different floral investments can accomplish based off of wedding party and guest list size. Keep in mind that every vendor is different, and these are based off of estimates; custom weddings will vary.
Worried that your budget isn't big enough for the size of your event? Always consider A La Carte and DIY options to help adjust!
